This course examines the importance of planning for retirement and explains how to calculate the amount an individual should save for retirement. It gives the history of the Social Security system and employer-sponsored retirement plans, such as the 401(k) and the Keogh plan.
The course discusses individual retirement accounts (IRAs). It explores ways of investing for retirement by looking at various portfolios and types of investments, such as stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Threats to retirement are studied as well as the possibilities for early retirement.
Upon completion of this course, the individual will be able to:

Help clients determine the best ways to save for retirement

Explain the major threats to retirement

Describe the Social Security system

Help clients understand basic employer-sponsored retirement plans

Explain the risks and returns of available investments
